I have had an idea for a long time, but I am not an Engineer and do not know how to achieve the goal of manufacturing the product.
Goal:
Create a standardized energy storage cells of various sizes that can be used around the world in Fitness Machines or other devices with the same standard cell.
The cells will be rigged to work with fitness equipment such as weight machines, bikes and tread mills.
These cells will be used in every fitness studio around the world. From now on, when people work out they will be creating energy that can be used to pay the club's electric bills and the surplus can be sold to energy providers.
These cells must somehow become an integral part of all fitness machines the world over. Some one has to have already had this idea, but I have not heard of it being implemented anywhere. If you know the reason, please mail me. If you manage to achieve the creation of this product please at least mention me somewhere or send me a fat royalty check each year (dream on right?).
Largest estimated obstacles:
-Sunk costs of R&D and production of the energy cells
-Electrical resistance and loss of energy
-Acceptance of product (The fitness studios have to be convinced that the increased price of the fitness machines will be balanced out by the energy savings they will achieve).
