We, as a company, will be spending in excess of $50,000 in order to eliminating all the paper used in the delivery of our product. As you can appreciate our clients, and we, have to spend both ink and paper in order to insure proper signature are captured for our clients. We are moving to the use of bar code scanners and signature capture to eliminate using paper. We have been testing units that have been developed for us by Sonovacor here in our own Lawrencetown, NS.
Along with the scanners will come the ability to see where our drivers are located by using GPS built into the scanners. This will enable our dispatchers to send the closest driver to the call and reduce fuel consumption by our vehicles.
We also purchased a smart car to reduce fuel being used and presently have two bicycles couriers working in the downtown core. We are presently working with a drop-box in order to transfer orders to and from the bikers and the vehicles in order to reduce fumes and congestion in the downtown core.
Our invoicing system is capable of internet billing and as we move more in this direction we are going to start charging an environmental fee for the clients that are not wanting this service and asking for printed invoices.
