Gary Schmeisser is the Director, Facilities Management at Saint Mary’s University. Gary has been at Saint Mary’s University for 11 years and is responsible for maintenance, operations, custodial, security and projects. Gary has been involved in facilities management for over 20 years in the health care and university sectors. Gary is strong proponent of sustainability, energy conservation and capital renewal planning. Gary is a member of the university’s Sustainability Committee, CAUBO Facilities Management Committee, past president of the Atlantic Chapter of APPA and is the co-chair of the 2011 ERAPPA Annual Meeting. Gary has been instrumental in leading sustainability, including the development of a $5.2-million project to convert to natural gas and reduce water, fuel and electrical use by 20% at Saint Mary’s University.
