Athletic all of his life, Guido played on the provincial rugby team. While in Ontario, Guido attended the University of Guelph's AMPHI program for hospitality executives.

In 1996, Guido became the Hotel Manager of the Delta Ottawa Hotel & Suites. Transferred the following year, Guido was assigned to assist in the rejuvenation of the Delta Pacific Resort and Conference Center.
